Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi, Director General of Civil Defense in Dubai, hosted the Civil Defense Champions Team to commemorate their remarkable achievements in winning five significant sports titles in the year 2023. These victories encompassed first place in the Government Games Championship, the Ministry of Interior Kayak Racing Championship, and the Civil Defense Rowing Championship in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, the team secured first place in the Fitness and Challenge Championship in Dubai and clinched the top spot in the government security and safety sector category at the " Emarat Alaman" event organized by the Security Industry Regulatory Agency (Sierra).

During the gathering to honor the heroes, Lieutenant General Rashid Thani Al Matrooshi emphasized that these competitions are not mere events in which the team takes part; rather, they serve as crucial benchmarks for assessing the preparedness of Dubai Civil Defense personnel to handle emergency situations in diverse scenarios. He underscored that the administration places complete reliance on its own personnel for these competitions, refraining from enlisting professionals or sports champions to represent them.

He clarified that the primary principle in a firefighter's duties is self-preservation, enabling them to safeguard others. Achieving this necessitates not only high physical fitness but also sustained readiness in confronting risks, demanding rigorous training programs. He highlighted that the civil defense personnel in Dubai are fully equipped, boasting a 100% readiness for emergencies. This level of preparedness is attributed to their exceptional physical fitness, deemed a critical factor for effectively addressing emergency situations across diverse circumstances.
