DCD Conducts Readiness Measurement Drill at Holiday Inn Hotel

Dubai Civil Defense has carried out a strategic drill to measure its readiness, at Holiday Inn Express in Internet City, in association with strategic partners in Dubai Police GHQ, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Management, DEWA, RTA, Dubai Municipality and Red Crescent Authority  in addition to Holiday Inn Express Hotel.  Drill was performed in the presence of Lt.Col Abdullah Alhurr AlSewaidi from Federal Central operations department at Ministry of Interior and assistant officers.

This drill comes under the federal applications plan to respond to hotels emergency situations plan,  and in line with GHQ strategic plan to ensure standby and readiness measurement in handling incidents and enhancing successful partnership with other strategic partners, and achieving best response rates.

Scenario began when central operations room was notified by hotel security officer at 10:00 am that a fire  has erupted in the fifth floor,  despatched fire squad from Almarsa fire station arrived to the fire scene at 10:05 am, forces arrived which include mobile operations units,early intervention and support vehicles immediately began dealing with the situation by raising initial assessment report to incident Commander,allocating response teams as per the Scenario approved in dealing with hotels incidents, support was requested from Albarasha fire station, which led to control the fire in a record time.

According to Lt.Col pilot Hamad Balswaida, director of ALbarasha fire center statement, operations room received call reporting a fire in Holiday Inn hotel Express, and based on the  drill set Scenario, initially 3 victims were evacuated, two had medium injuries while the third victim was seriously injured and all were transferred to ambulance patrol for treatment, then suppression operations began and fire was battled in a record time.

Head of Crisis and Disasters Section, Captain  Omer Baljafla has indicated that drill serves the objectives of testing hotels emergency plan implementation, efficiency and effectiveness of local authorities of strategic partners, and how far they understand their assigned tasks in accordance to set plans, and testing  standby levels and ability to implement emergency plans
