Dubai Civil Defense has participated, in association with Bait AL Khair Charitable society, in a campaign launched by Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum, wife of H.H.Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and Chairperson of Board of Trustee of Emirates Food Bank, to distribute 10 million Iftar meals to workers at AL Ras area. The Campaign aims to supply most affected categories, due to the pandemic Novel CORONA” COVID-19”, with food.
DCD”s participation comes in line with its firmed community commitments, and its ongoing attempts to instill humanitarian activities, and as part of efforts to support charitable activities during the month of holy Ramadan, enhancing the deep-rooted community role exercised towards all community members.
Major Dr. Ahmed Yousuf AL Shengiti, director of Government Communication department, praised the humanitarian and noble demission of the campaign themed “10 million meals”, launched by Her Highness Sheikha Hind Bint Maktoum Bin Juma AL Maktoum Chairperson of Board of Trustee of Emirates Food Bank, that reflects the solidarity of UAE society, locals and residents, to overcome challenges, and enhancing safety and security feelings amongst community sectors.
He also indicated, that participation reflects DCD’S strategy and policies in embedding and sustaining wise leadership initiatives, efforts to adopt community initiatives, and activating charitable participation, which well-matched with our religious values, also extending bonds of understanding and compassionate across community members, in cooperation with strategic partners.
An Expo 2020 spokesperson said: “A medium-sized fire broke out earlier this morning, on the #Expo2020 site in construction debris. The fire was brought under control quickly by emergency services. it is now now out, and nobody was harmed".
Effective Response … Sustainable Readiness
Dubai Civil Defense continues its sustainable main operations in firefighting and rescue field, fire safety services, and remote community awareness program, in a full swing and effective response in dealing with the incidents, where incidents indicators recorded has seen a remarkable reduction by 79% as compared to the month of February, a month earlier before sterilization move started and the month of March this year. We also dedicated to having ongoing effective and efficient services that meet customer satisfaction, without any negative impact due to current situations on the quality and outcomes of our services.
During the last two weeks, only (813 inspections tasks) were carried out by safety inspectors on buildings, as part of their ongoing tasks, inspectors have strictly observed personal protection rules while performing their duty. Remote Safety transactions carried out also include (770 drawings approval and 438 companies’ approval), amidst these exceptional circumstances, remote awareness programs continue to cast videos and digital messages on social media platforms, to demonstrate the importance of abiding by anti-pandemic safety measures, as well as its main awareness messages on fire risks.
Permanent Dedication to Ensure Firefighters Safety
While our fire and rescue teams continue to carry out their duties, day and night, at fire stations, we strive tirelessly to provide a healthy and safe environment for them, and for this purpose, the epidemiological investigation team was recently formed under the direct supervision of the Director-General, to monitor Corona virus-infected and contact persons, ( if any DCD employee shows any symptoms of the disease) to immediately transfer him to DHA medical facilities, and daily following up the case. In addition, intensifying anti-Corona virus awareness campaigns across military and civil employees. In the same respect, a number of urgent preventive actions already taken including installation of the thermal camera at DCD’s fire stations entrances, to ensure all staff safety against Coronavirus, appointing safety officer at each station to follow up preventive safety and assure candidates compliance to set health and safety measures. Each fire station to have one entrance, to ensure smooth sterilization process, wearing masks, gloves and using sanitizers are mandatory for all employees, conducting routine tests for employees during shift changing process, station’s facilities are sterilized twice a week, as well as sterilization of PPE is carried on regular basis.
Strategic Partners in combating new Coronavirus Pandemic
As a member of the local Crisis and Disasters Management Committees, DCD undertakes specific tasks in the national strategy for fighting the Corona virus pandemic. DCD’s teams have efficiently and effectively carried out preventive sterilization operations in many prime locations, economic, services and high density populated residential areas, during the day and night hours, the total number of areas been sterilized till today covering more than 75% of areas of Dubai. Moreover, some teams also visited 490 labor accommodations, to ensure anti-Corona virus safety measures are in place, assure these places are sterilized, spreading awareness amongst them and educate them about cleanness habits and skills to avoid infection and proliferation of the pandemic. About not less than 161977 labors dwelling in these camps have benefited so far from these arrangements.
Dubai Civil Defense also safeguards drive through testing centers, by placing 24-hour security forces. A permanent biggest field hospital in the Middle East and Gulf region set for Corona virus-infected persons set in Dubai World Trade Center is secured by DCD teams.
UAE celebrates with the rest of the other nations World Health Day, which falls on April 7 every year, amidst the serious repercussions witnessed by most countries due to the spreading of COVID 19, which is described by the UN as a haunting challenge humanity face since 2nd World War.
This year's initiative is celebrated under the theme “Supporting Nurses and Midwives”, to cast light on their crucial role to maintain public health, by putting their health at risk to protect patients and infected people, especially at times of epidemics spreading and disputes.
We are highly proud and appreciating to watch the valued efforts exerted by medical sector employees across all hospitals, medical centers, and other health facilities, including doctors, nurses, paramedics, medical teams, and administrative medical staff, (comprising the protectors of the nation today and its loyal soldiers), who work days and nights in the front line of the battle against the new Coronavirus pandemic, saving lives and ensuring public safety.
The sincere and responsible dedication shown by the medical staff to treat the infected persons in accordance to international best treatment protocols, to make them return safe and sound to their families and loved ones, which reflects their noble humanitarian feeling and their firmed confidence on their wise leadership, is highly applauded by us.
Our self-confident, professional and highly skilled UAE medical staff is paving the way for UAE to become globally pioneering in preventing the proliferation of pandemic disease, which threatens human life worldwide.
UAE has set an exemplary model in hosting and treating hundreds of people from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds who were stranded in the most affected countries by the daunting challenge in the world.
We reaffirmed you that all Civil Defense staff stand united in solidarity with our medical staff in their human cause.
We are very confident that such daunting challenges will soon be left behind, and we will successfully continue our march towards the 50.
