Dubai Civil Defense performed a strategic training drill, in collaboration with its strategic partners at Dubai Police GHQ, Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services, Dubai Ports World and Total Lubricant Company.
This move comes as part of DCD’s annual training plan implementation, preparation and readiness measurement strategy to deal with incidents, enhancing the successful partnerships with strategic partners, and achieving best response rates.
The Scenario, began when DCD’s central operations room, received a report from Total Lubricant Company security officer at 10:47 am, stating that a tanker at berth 2 guts fire, fire squads from Jebal Ali fire station, comprising mobile operations units and early intervention, arrived to the incident scene and began assessing the situation and preparing and submit its report to incident commander, deploying fire combating teams according to the scenario, set to deal with maritime and warehouses fires, support and back up squad immediately dispatched from DIP fire center, following the onsite forces request, as result fire was brought under control in a record time, followed by cooling operations and incident scene field survey.
According to the drill scenario, operations room received a fire report from Total lubricant company, immediately response operations started by evacuating 4 casualties, with medium and adverse injuries, 2 victims were evacuated by Dubai police rescue teams from the sea, while the remaining 2 were evacuated by Dubai Civil Defense units, then fire suppression operations started, and due to DCD’s advanced equipment, ground and side nozzle jet, specially designed to fight beaches and maritime fires, they managed to bring fire under control in a record time.
Major Bader Foolath, incident commander and Director of Jebel Ali Fire & rescue Center, praised the positive dealing of DP World operations room at Jebel Ali, and Total security officers, and the way evacuation was carried out at the time fire was erupted, and supervising the evacuation of other company’s labors through Gate 1, to safe assembly point.
