DCD Unleashes First Electric Fire Engine in the Middle East
In the presence of His Excellency Maj. Gen. Dr. Jassim Mohammed Al Marzouqi, Commander in Chief of Civil Defense – Ministry of Interior, Dubai Civil unleashed Electric Powered Fire Engine (EPFE), first of its kind in the Middle East region and second worldwide, a new invented electric fire-fighting vehicle designed as per the latest technology systems, was showcased during the inauguration of (Custom Show Emirates), taking place at Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC), between 8-10 April, 2021, which is considered the region’s biggest specialized exhibition for modified motorbikes and vehicles.
Gen. Expert Rashid Al Matrooshi, Director General of Dubai Civil Defense has announced that the speed of this electric fire engine is 20% more than the speed of other specialized vehicles and its efficiency in performing main tasks is more by 40%, the vehicle also fitted with LED lighting.
He added, the vehicle featuring also intuitive operation via 17’’ display in crew-cockpit, LCS (Logic Control System) based on CAN-bus technology, which operates via smart (telematics system) and Wi-Fi-Hotspot to communicate with operation room, sophisticated remote working system to dispatch and receive signals, including communication with manufacturer, fully integrated cabin crew cockpit for (6) fire and rescue men, ergonomic environment help to conduct crew meeting to set onsite incident management plans.
Vehicle design includes Rosenbauer NH35 – combined normal and high-pressure pump in light alloy (FPN10-3000 and FPH 40 -250 acc. to EN1028), water tank capacity is 4.000 l, and foam tank capacity is 400.l, foam system Fix Mix 2.0A.
Al Matrooshi indicated that the vehicle has the following additional features; central locking for cabin and equipment rooms, integrated power supply for external devices (230/400v – max18KW), 4 sophisticated cameras, water+ foams tanks levels reading devices, in addition to power charge at fire station charge 80% in 40 minutes, allowing 6-8 continuous working hours.
He indicated that electric operating vehicle will enhance the success of innovative and reshaping projects in achieving DCD’S best response time, and serve its trends to ensure the safety of lives and properties across the emirate of Dubai, being fitted with all necessary enablers encompassing direct permanent contact with operations room, via sophisticated communication technologies, and the effective contact with the manufacturer regarding operational technical issues, in addition to an advance cockpit accommodating (6) fire and rescue men, required meeting to set suitable onsite incident management plans is possible by adjusting crew seats in the cockpit.
“DCD’S new electric fire vehicle comes within the smart system of apparatuses and specialized equipment, as per international highest standards known in the field of fire and safety, in a way that bolsters our responsibilities towards the community and assuring our effective role in protecting lives and properties is carried out in most effectively and efficiently way, to ensure the achievement of happiness and life quality”, He added.
